JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the daily, weekly, and annual maintenance of all heavy and light duty equipment. This involves; snowcats, excavators, loaders, snowmobiles, ATVs, and UTVs. This role works closely with other shop personnel to ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards, supporting the smooth and reliable operation of mountain activities.
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be a champion of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures as well as promote a positive work environment. They will seek learning opportunities as well as work closely with apprentices to ensure proper training is taking place.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all needed maintenance activities for all heavy-duty fleet equipment to a high professional standard. Performs the same duties on snowmobiles, ATVs, and UTVs.
- Schedule and implement daily, weekly and annual fleet maintenance.
- Overseeing and supervising large-scale maintenance work.
- Training and educating apprentices in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure all Whitewater policies are adhered to as outlined in the current Employee handbook as well as all applicable WCB regulations.
- Ensure all equipment and vehicles are maintained to current manufacturers recommendations.

Job Title: Events Coordinator

JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the direction and supervision of the Brand Director, the Events Coordinator’s primary role is to maintain Whitewater’s strong brand presence through the execution and coordination of Whitewater’s key events with support from the Sales & Marketing team. As an employee of the Resort your mandate is to ensure our guests, working partners, and sponsors receive the best level of service, leaving them with a long-lasting, positively memorable experience of Whitewater.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for event planning and social media, a keen eye for detail, and a love for outdoor and mountain sports. This role involves supporting the Brand Director in the implementation and execution of the Resort's strategic marketing plan, overseeing all aspects of event planning and execution, as well as managing our social media presence to engage our community and promote our brand.
The Events Coordinator’s typical workweek is Thursday to Monday, and this role is expected to be on-mountain throughout the winter operating season. There may be some weeks where this schedule is shifted to allow for the Sales & Marketing team to have a constant presence on the hill.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a Brand Ambassador of Whitewater Mountain Resort;
- Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development;

JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the direction and supervision of the Outdoor Operations Manager, the Outdoor Guest Services Supervisor will provide leadership and direction of the daily operations to the Outdoor Guest Services Team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences and smooth operations within the outdoor guest services world. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage a team of outdoor guest services staff, while maintaining a focus on delivering top-notch customer service and promoting safety and enjoyment for all resort guests.
Key areas of responsibility include the execution and coordination of the team in base area operations: traffic flow management, overseeing effective parking, base area risk management, snow removal around infrastructure, lift ticket scanning, resort events, and assistance with the mountain safety team as well as other departments as required. You will be expected to foster strong working relationships, hire, onboard, and train staff, team scheduling and payroll, attend operations meetings, be familiar with resort terrain, and all safety procedures. Often the first point of contact for guests, this role is an integral part of the resort experience. Your ongoing personal interaction with our Guests will foster a friendly relationship that they will look forward to renewing continually. You will be a knowledge expert on Whitewater’s terrain, events, and services as well as an important information resource for Nelson and the surrounding area.
Minimum Qualifications: Physically fit- needing the ability to perform very physical duties for long hours in inclement weather; an aptitude and desire to be in guest service, and true enjoyment of the outdoors. The ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level is required. Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract required; Class 4 considered an asset.

JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the direction and supervision of the Indoor Operations Manager, the Shuttle Driver’s primary role is to transport guests to the resort in a timely, safe, and friendly manner. You will be an ambassador for the resort and are integral in providing the Whitewater Experience. You will act as an information resource for the mountain and the Nelson area. Your personal interaction with our Guests will foster a friendly, knowledgeable relationship which they will look forward to renewing each time they visit Whitewater.
Key areas of responsibility include abiding by all of the government and company policies and procedures, completion of the Commercial Safety Inspection, maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle, greeting guests/staff at specified locations, validating guest manifests to ensure payment of travel, assisting guests with the load/off load of their equipment and managing lost and found items.

- Safe, timely, and friendly transportation of our guests to the resort.

JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Hummingbird Lodge Supervisor, the Team lead will oversee and maintain all aspects of accommodation and services (exclusive of food and beverage) at the Hummingbird Lodge in the absence of the Hummingbird Lodge Supervisor. For accommodations, this will include the suite and RV Sites. For services, this will include rental equipment, trail network and information boards. When the supervisor is of, they will supervise and lead all aspects of day to day operations.
The team lead's primary role is to provide exceptional experience. They will work in conjunction with the Hummingbird Lodge Supervisor to effectively and efficiently run the Lodge and Campground aspect of this new business, resulting in high-quality resort operations and customer service, fiscal responsibility, strong health and safety culture, and compliance with all government regulations, with a continued focus on Whitewater’s company culture and branding.

The primary role of the Lodge Host is providing barista/customer services in the Hummingbird Lodge Cafe however the lodge host is a very versatile position and you will be trained in all aspects of the operation and will be expected to jump in when needed.
The key areas of responsibility include front of house duties, meeting and greeting guests, providing local knowledge, working as a barista, operating the POS system, and cleaning duties as assigned. You will work alongside the chef who will be responsible for running the kitchen. Whitewater Ski Resort is seeking motivated Snowcat Operators and Loader Operators to join our Grooming Team for the winter season. New operators typically begin in loader roles, clearing snow from parking lots and around resort infrastructure. Snowcat Operators operate Prinoth Snowcats to groom ski runs and maintain resort terrain to the highest standards of safety and quality. Key responsibilities include maintaining safe access throughout the resort, grooming runs for optimal guest experience, and shaping lift ramps. These are night shift positions, so candidates must be available to work nights and weekends. As experience grows, operators may progress to winch cat operation and terrain feature construction.

Mountain Safety
No day is the same in the mountain safety realm. Daily responsibilities combine first aid for our Guests and Staff, coverage of mountain safety, assist in risk management within our ski area boundary to reduce and/or make aware hazards to skiers/boarders as they develop, participate in avalanche control risk management, incident rescue and reporting, disaster plans and first aid procedures, chair lift evacuations and self-evacuations, maintenance of ski runs, fence lines and equipment, morning and afternoon sweep, public education and policing of ski area, record keeping for avalanche control, inventories, and first aid and accident investigation reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Level 1 Patrol: 80 hour Advanced First aid and AST 1
Level 2 Patrol: 80 hour Advanced First Aid current CPR advanced skiing ability CAA Avalanche Operations Level I
The volunteer program is a mentorship plan for new patrollers. Volunteers will be given the opportunity to shadow an experienced patroller for 4 days in order to maximize orientation and learn the different patroller's tasks and responsibilities. Responsible for providing first aid to injured guests and staff. As part of the team, you will assist in risk management and general mountain safety in order to reduce or eliminate hazards, participate in avalanche control procedures, lift evacuations and search and rescue operations.
This is a volunteer position which includes a season pass along with other benefits and requires a minimum commitment of 16 shifts over the season.
Minimum Qualifications: Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 & Occupational First Aid Level III or 80 hour Advanced First Aid.
The Dispatcher provides a critical communication link between all departments on the mountain and is responsible for all radio transmissions, receiving and responding to initial injuries, and monitoring safety procedures for personnel. The most important responsibility of a Whitewater Dispatcher is to act as an accurate scribe for all snow safety operations. The ability to remain calm in high-stress situations in order to ensure all necessary information is obtained and documented in a clear and concise manner is extremely important. The following skill set is highly beneficial for the position; attention to detail, clear communication skills, situational awareness, and project management.
Minimum Qualifications: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs typing Speed at least 40 wpm. Previous dispatch experience, first aid training, and knowledge of Whitewater terrain are considered an asset
As an Avalanche Technician you are responsible for skier and employee safety on the mountain, assisting in risk management and general mountain safety to eliminate or reduce hazards. In this position you can expect to; conduct risk management within our area boundary to reduce and/or make guests and staff aware of risks and potential hazards provide a daily avalanche hazard analysis/assessment Infoex submissions and documentation of control work work on avalanche forecasting and control work to minimize avalanche hazard within our area boundary as well as regular ski patrol duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: CAA Operations Level 2, WSBC Blasting Ticket, 80 hour advanced first aid (OFA 3 or NUEC preferred), membership with the CAA in good standing, and AST instructing certification considered an asset.

JOB SYNOPSIS:
As a janitor you play a crucial role in maintaining a clean & safe environment for guests and staff. Your day starts once facilities shut down for the day and continues after guests and other staff have left the hill. Your work ensures that the facilities are clean and ready to go for guests the next morning. This shift is weekend Shift, Part-time (Friday and Saturday) and picking up shifts as operationally required.
This role has you working past regular staffing hours, so having your own 4X4 vehicle will be necessary.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleaning of the entire day lodge nightly and ensure other buildings and lodges are cleaned based on the weekly schedule. Other areas include Skier Services, IGS building, Hummingbird lodge, Mountain Ops, and Glory Lodge.

The Events Coordinator’s typical workweek is Thursday to Monday, and this role is expected to be on-mountain throughout the winter operating season. There may be some weeks where this schedule is shifted to allow for the Sales & Marketing team to have a constant presence on the hill.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a Brand Ambassador of Whitewater Mountain Resort;
- Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development;
- Embrace, promote, and follow Whitewater’s mission statement and values;
- Execute all of the Resort events with the oversight of the Brand Director and in coordination with the other members of the Sales & Marketing team;
- Event administration including budget management, development, logistics, publicity, and advertising;
- Oversee event setup, operations, and breakdown;
- Work with the Brand Director to execute the annual strategic marketing plan in order to attract potential customers and help educate all existing customers on various programs and happenings at Whitewater;
- Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and partners to ensure successful event execution;
- Ensure all events comply with safety regulations and resort policies;
- Collect and analyze feedback to continually improve future events;
- Inform content creation and event listings before, during, and after events;
- Monitor and respond to social media interactions to build a strong online community;
- Ensure communication is consistent between the Sales & Marketing team and all other departments and to ensure a seamless guest experiences;
- Organization and execution of staff functions and gatherings to build internal stakeholder engagement. Working closely with the HR department to execute internal event schedules;
- Act as an information resource; you must be familiar with Whitewater and Nelson products, policies, and procedures;
- Provide support with media and public relations as required;
- Perform other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required from time to time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:
- Proven experience organizing and executing events is required;
- Basic experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, and/or other editing software is required;
- A degree/diploma in Marketing or event management is an asset;
- Intermediate to advanced experience in photography or film is an asset.

Whitewater does not offer staff accommodation at the resortThe resort is located about a 20-minute drive outside the incredible city of Nelson, so most employees live there. We offer a daily shuttle that is free to employees which stops at three different locations in town. We also have a staff Facebook page where our team can connect with one another and find suitable accommodations together. In order to work at Whitewater, you must be a Canadian citizen or have a valid Canadian Visa and Work Permit. All foreign workers must show their Visa, Work Permit, Canadian Social Insurance Number and/or proof that they have applied for the Social Insurance Number. Please note that Whitewater Ski Resort does not give out letters of offer for foreign workers. All international staff must have travel insurance, and medical coverage is highly recommended. YES, if you are a successful applicant, Whitewater will refund your Season Pass according to our policy and the number of days you work.
Yes, this is strongly encouraged. We receive a significant number of applications for Volly Patrol and start hiring after the Early Bird Season Pass deadline. If you successfully get through the interview process you will receive a pass at 50%. Once you have completed your required volunteer shifts, the remaining amount will be refunded. This is a huge commitment and a huge help to the Pro Patrol. Plus, a great way to gain experience for next season!
Whitewater has two 14 seat staff shuttles which run twice every morning (before the public shuttle bus). Scheduled employees are able to utilize this service at a discounted rate. As seats are limited, we also encourage you to carpool with your fellow coworkers.
Our winter season operates from early December to early April and our summer season operates from late June to late September.
