JOB SYNOPSIS: 

Under the direction and guidance from the Outdoor Operations Manager, the Grooming Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of Whitewater Mountain Resort’s Grooming Department. This role oversees the daily planning and execution of all grooming, snow removal, and heavy equipment operations to ensure exceptional skiing conditions, safe mountain access, and efficient base area operations. 

The Grooming Supervisor will oversee Snowcat Operations of 4 Prinoth Snowcats, as well as parking lot clearing with two Loaders. They will provide leadership, training, scheduling, and operational direction to Grooming Department staff while working closely with other Outdoor Operations departments to achieve organizational goals. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, equipment care, operational quality, and staff performance, while ensuring departmental operations align with Whitewater Mountain Resort’s mission, values, operational objectives, and budget expectations. This position requires night shift work.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Supervise the safe and efficient daily operation of the Grooming Department. 
• Plan, schedule, and oversee all snowcat grooming operations to ensure high-quality skiing and riding conditions. 
• Oversee snow removal operations for parking lots, access roads, base areas, and resort infrastructure. 
• Coordinate daily operational priorities with the Outdoor Operations Manager and other resort departments. 
• Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and performance management for Grooming Department staff. 
• Monitor operator performance, machine productivity, and grooming quality through regular field observations and operational reporting. 
• Utilize Skadii to monitor operator performance, track machine productivity, review GPS grooming data, and support operational decision making. 
• Ensure all operators are completing accurate pre-trip and post-trip inspections through Skadii. 
• Ensure all equipment deficiencies, damage reports, and maintenance requests are properly documented and submitted through Skadii and communicated to the Vehicle Maintenance Department. 
• Develop and maintain department training standards, operating procedures, and safe work practices. 
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, WorkSafeBC regulations, and departmental safety procedures. 
• Maintain awareness of weather forecasts, snow conditions, and operational impacts to support grooming strategies and operational planning. 
• Assist with the planning and execution of terrain park construction and maintenance in coordination with appropriate departments. 
• Coordinate grooming and snow removal requirements for races, events, and special projects. 
• Assist with payroll submission, scheduling, record keeping, budgeting, and other administrative duties as required. 
• Maintain a safe, professional, and organized work environment. 
• Respond to operational issues and assist during emergency situations as required. 
• Promote Whitewater Mountain Resort’s mission, values, and safety culture.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION: 

• Minimum 5 years of snowcat grooming and snow removal experience. 
• Experience operating heavy equipment in winter conditions (Loaders and excavator) 
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience required. 
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required. 
• Air Brake Endorsement considered an asset. 
• Mechanical background considered an asset. 
• High School Diploma Required. 
• Valid First Aid certification is considered an asset. 
• Experience using GPS grooming and fleet management systems such as Skadii considered an asset.

JOB SYNOPSIS: 

Under the direction of the rentals and repair supervisor, the Rental and Repair Assistant Supervisor provides leadership, coaching, management, and direction for assigned team members within the Rental team.  The Rental and Repair Assistant Supervisor’s primary role is to support driving exceptional guest experience, build strong supplier relationships, and ensure service and financial targets are met. 

Key areas of responsibility include supporting the repair and rentals supervisor to analyze and understanding operational flows to streamline bottlenecks in process, equipment and machinery management, inventory controls, legal liability documentation, risk management, well-rounded product knowledge, design and store layout, managing expenses and inventory.  This will be accomplished by working closely amongst your team on the floor which will provide invaluable feedback and insights from our guests' experience.

JOB SYNOPSIS:

Under the direction and supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the daily, weekly, and annual maintenance of all heavy and light duty equipment. This involves; snowcats, excavators, loaders, snowmobiles, ATVs, and UTVs. This role works closely with other shop personnel to ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards, supporting the smooth and reliable operation of mountain activities.

The Vehicle Mechanic will be a champion of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures as well as promote a positive work environment. They will seek learning opportunities as well as work closely with apprentices to ensure proper training is taking place.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all needed maintenance activities for all heavy-duty fleet equipment to a high professional standard. Performs the same duties on snowmobiles, ATVs, and UTVs.
• Schedule and implement daily, weekly and annual fleet maintenance.
• Overseeing and supervising large-scale maintenance work.
• Training and educating apprentices in conjunction with the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor
• Ensure all Whitewater policies are adhered to as outlined in the current Employee handbook as well as all applicable WCB regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic or Automotive Mechanic – BC Trades Certification or Interprovincial Red Seal Trades Certification required.
• Valid Driver’s License required with clean drivers abstract.
• Full Set of Comprehensive Tools required.
• Previous experience working in a shop required.

JOB SYNOPSIS:

In this role you will assist guests with their retail purchases at Whitewater. Whether purchasing new gear for themselves or souvenirs of their trip to Whitewater you will help them pick what's best for them using specific product knowledge and excellent customer service. Along with guest service in the retail shop your responsibilities will include store displays inventory maintenance, re-stocking and keeping the store looking fresh and new by rotating products.

• Merchandising, price marking, selling and inventory maintenance
• Cash handling – processing debit, credit and cash transactions
• Opening and closing duties: cashing in and cashing out, cleaning, organizing

Whitewater does not offer staff accommodation at the resortThe resort is located about a 20-minute drive outside the incredible city of Nelson, so most employees live there. We offer a daily shuttle that is free to employees which stops at three different locations in town. We also have a staff Facebook page where our team can connect with one another and find suitable accommodations together. In order to work at Whitewater, you must be a Canadian citizen or have a valid Canadian Visa and Work Permit. All foreign workers must show their Visa, Work Permit, Canadian Social Insurance Number and/or proof that they have applied for the Social Insurance Number. Please note that Whitewater Ski Resort does not give out letters of offer for foreign workers. All international staff must have travel insurance, and medical coverage is highly recommended. For further information please contact the Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate in your host country.

YES, if you are a successful applicant, Whitewater will refund your Season Pass according to our policy and the number of days you work.

Yes, this is strongly encouraged. We receive a significant number of applications for Volly Patrol and start hiring after the Early Bird Season Pass deadline. If you successfully get through the interview process you will receive a pass at 50%. Once you have completed your required volunteer shifts, the remaining amount will be refunded. This is a huge commitment and a huge help to the Pro Patrol. Plus, a great way to gain experience for next season!

Whitewater has two 14 seat staff shuttles which run twice every morning (before the public shuttle bus). Scheduled employees are able to utilize this service at a discounted rate. As seats are limited, we also encourage you to carpool with your fellow coworkers.

Our winter season operates from early December to early April and our summer season operates from late June to late September.
