The Perfect Storm
Every once in a while the stars align for ultimate pukage. You could say clouds in this case. Not to mention cold air. And, oh yeah, let's not forget about the Jetstream. Oh, the glorious Jetstream. It is, right now, and for the last few days, been snowing extremely hard here in the southern Selkirk Mountains. And it has everything to do with confluence. Warm, wet Pacific Ocean laden air funneling in from the west, mixing with cold, dry, Arctic born air from the north. The two meet, greet, then, thanks to the Jetstream, decide to send their fluffy wares straight in across Vancouver and across to Whitewater, where a desert in between dries out the moisture just perfectly, and the sharp peaks of the Selkirks further cool and extract all this goodness it to what has been a three day bevy of epic powder. Sure, I could send you an image of the biggest faceshot of my life (which I had yesterday), but for this installment let's look at the truly beautiful picture: that of the confluence itself. For us Whitewater lovin' folk, what amounts to the Perfect Storm.
