Whitewater Avalanche Conditions Report 2017 - #5

After two months of "cold" temps in the Kootenays we have just had our first normal storm cycle depositing 40+ cms.  This makes for great skiing, and has also increased the load on the weak layers.  Today's avalanche control produced size 1 - 2 slab avalanches with 40-50 cms crowns.

Avalanche hazard is considerable and should be treated with extra caution.   Pick your terrain wisely as many areas have thin shallow weak spots that may be easy to trigger.
