What Does This Winter Have in Store?
There are all types of rumbling through the mountains of what this upcoming winter snowfall is going to be like words like blob vs godzilla makes the weather forecast sounds more like a horror movie then an actual prediction of what will fall from the sky. CBC posted an article last August about the weather prediction, in which they forecasted that this El Nino could be similar to 1997. Let's only hope that this is the case as the 1997 El Nino was responsible for one of the largest snow seasons on record at Whitewater. In the 1997/1998 season Whitewater accumulated 596cm of snow from January through until the end of March. I think that we could all handle that.
So, what IS this winter going to look like?
The fact is that winter will come regardless. Sometimes, being as spoiled as we are here in our area, we forget how lucky we are. Last year while other resorts were closing down in the middle of the season, Whitewater operated over 100 days with the majority of terrain open, including one of Whitewater's best terrain parks to date, and one of the deepest snowpacks in western North America all with NATURAL snow. Crazy right, all with NO snowmaking! That higher elevation is a savior when those warming trends move through the region.

So purchase your season pass before the 30th and save up to 20%. Why would you wait and pay more? That is just silly. I mean, $713 plus tax for a full winter of entertainment? That is under $180 a month for the option of daily shredding! That definitely beats sitting lonely below the clouds when you could be under the majestic peak of Ymir with all your ski/snowboard buddies sliding on any and all forms of snow that Mother Nature provides us.
And don?? forget, this year your season pass includes the Powder Alliance privileges, which means up to 39 free ski days at 13 resorts throughout the West (note there are blackout dates, make sure to check www.powderalliance.com for details before hitting the road). The best part about the Powder Alliance? The more that you ski other resorts in the program, the more chances you have to win a season pass for next year with the Wild West Powder Quest! More details on that coming soon??.
LET IT SNOW!
