The Backcountry is not so lovey-dovey right now
MOTI's Senior Avalanche Officer John Buffery joins Whitewater Avalanche Forecaster Wren McElroy to discuss the avalanche conditions this winter. Join them as they talk about how the recent historical avalanches are running and important information on terrain choices. With more than 150cms of new snow falling in the last week and a half there is an incredible amount of load on the persistent weak layers. Hhow these layers are reacting is sporadic, with some releasing to ground with 2-meter crowns and some areas lying dormant. Watch the #sleepinggiant as it is unpredictable when it wakes up.
