Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five...

With half a season under our belts, we probably have the legs, stamina and confidence to tackle, cruise or fly some of those runs that remain more elusive or intimidating. There is one such run at Whitewater that is the subject of much local folklore. This spectacular and legendary Summit side descent, marks the 7th installment of our Speakski series*.

The Blast

noun  \ ˈblast \

Accessed from Ignitor or Bonanza, the Blast or ones experience of the Blast could be described as an intense gust of wind, an explosion, a sound, a severe reprimand, an enjoyably exciting experience and celebration or perhaps all of the above. Possibly the most legendary of descents at Whitewater Ski Resort, The Blast sets the stage for first chair aficionados and exhibitionists alike. As one descends the Blast, gasps, yelps and sighs can be heard from the rotating peanut gallery above and this is what makes this run quite a spectacle as well as an intimidating proposition for most. It's consistent steep pitch, drops, curves and bumps are the main attraction and add drama to the show. However, for those who need to regain composure or catch a breath there are moments of reprieve offered quarterly by the intersperse d cat track crossings. On that note, one can tackle the Blast one section at a time and work their way up to one grand performance. So whattya say? Is it time for a Blast?

*Unlike any other ski hill in Canada, the culture at Whitewater has a unique flavor that has been organically refined over decades by a dedicated following of committed locals. Our 'Speakski Series' defines some classic Whitewater terminology so you can keep up with the locals off the hill.
