Slide, Scavenge and SEARCH this Saturday
Whitewaters' 5th annual Winter Carnival is rolling around again and the forecast is calling for sunshine! Favourite Winter Carnival activities include all day marshmallow roasting, a snow sculpting competition, a torchlight parade, and an avalanche awareness day once again, but this year's winter carnival includes a brand new event: the AYUDA Slide, Scavenge, and Search fundraiser!

Grab one, two or three of your best (and fastest) friends, find some fun costumes, and get ready for a scavenger hunt on Whitewater's slopes! You will be armed with a list of clues leading you to check-in points, trivia to answer, and objects and photo evidence to collect for a chance to win amazing prizes from sponsors Bula, Lakeside Physiotherapy, Rossignol, Kombi, ROAM, Snowpack, Mountain Life Fitness, Dakine, Oso Negro, Bibo, Tara Davis Boutique, and Love and Light Healing!
When is the event?
The event is on Saturday, January 18th, during Winter Carnival at Whitewater Ski Resort. It begins at 11:00am and both courses will be closed at 2:00 pm. Check-in and registration begins at the lodge at 9:00am, and there is a mandatory competitors meeting at the tent outside of the rental shop (outside the lodge near the Silverking lift) at 10:45am. Maps and clue lists will be given at this meeting.
Who can participate?
This is an event for everyone: families and friends are encouraged! If you are a single and looking for team members, please post on the Facebook page and we will try to match you up! There are 2 courses to choose from: the short or long course. The short course will take place exclusively on the Silverking lift, on blue or green runs only, and is designed to be completed in about one hour. The long course will take place on the Summit and Glory terrain, on blue and black runs. This course is designed to be completed in about 2 hours.
What is this fundraiser for?
This event is a fundraiser for Ayuda (American Youth Understanding Diabetes Abroad), which aims to educate and empower people living with diabetes around the world to live happy and healthy lives. The entry fee per team is $40, or $10 per person for teams of 2 or 3, and all of the proceeds will go to AYUDA to continue funding AYUDA's programs, including diabetes camps, education sessions, and national fitness campaigns.
