Headline News - What's new for 2010
On Mountain - With the purchase of an excavator, extensive run work is being done on the Silver King side to guarantee a more timely opening with better conditions once the snow flies. Improvements to the Summit side include the start of a winter skiway to Catch Basin, removing the boulders from Goldpan and glading in Highgrade, Enchanted Forest and Sleeper. There will be trail improvements made in the Nordic area as well. Deactivation of old logging roads and overall cleanup are all on the summer to do list. Whitewater Lodge - The crews have worked over the summer to complete the renovations started last fall on the daylodge. It?۪s more comfortable, brighter and energy efficient. A new security system and an upgrade to the electrical and water systems will keep things flowing for the 2010 winter season!
Development Update - The Whitewater Master Plan has been amended and is currently at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Arts for approval. Once this has been received, we will host a public review in Nelson where all will be welcome to attend. The amended agreement will also be posted on skiwhitewater.com. In the interim, we are moving forward with the Backside expansion, more info to come at a later date.
Special Events - Watch for the details on the Whitewater Winter Carnival! A mountain fun for the whole gang with competitions, yummy winter treats and an evening shaker! The Kootenay Coldsmoke Powderfest is back for another year and promises an off-piste good time with a film fest, nightly events and not to mention engaging clinics.
