Not just ANY race....

Each year Whitewater hosts a ??Season Pass Holders Appreciation Day??/strong> which includes the infamous ??Pass Holders Race?? This is an important race considering this is a chance for pass holders to try and win a free season pass for the following winner. There is one pass up for grabs in each of the following categories: Senior, Adult, Youth, Junior and Child. Our "Child" category is 6 and under (no cost for a day lift ticket), so the winner of this category receives a free entry to our popular Holiday Camps. This year we had 144 participants! If you think the race is ??fastest wins??you??e wrong... You??e truly only racing yourself! We have two slalom courses set up; each person has to ski each course once. Both laps are timed, and whoever comes closest to matching their time wins! I was AMAZED at how many people actually come within a second of this time. This is a totally attainable goal for any type of skier or boarder. If you missed it this year, be sure to come out and give it a shot next year.

Each year we ask for a $2 donation to enter in the race, a small price to pay considering the potential prize. The money raised has gone to help fund worthy projects in the past, but this year all of the proceeds were donated to the Nelson Food Cupboard. If you were part of this race, THANK YOU for participating! You raised $288 for a very worthy cause. Whitewater decided to match that donation and today we presented the Nelson Food Cupboard with a cheque for $576.

We were also able to donate all leftover food items from the delicious Fresh Tracks Cafe and Cafe Express. We are committed to our community and proud to be a part of it.
