My Coldsmoke Experience

I have been snowboarding for a few years while working at Whitewater and studying at Selkirk College. Lately it has been a bit harder for me to feel inspired to go out snowboarding on my days off. I needed something new: a bit of a kick-start. Last weekend on Saturday, Feb 23, I was lucky enough to participate in Kendra Starr?? snowboarding clinic; I had such a blast! Snowboarding with a pro rider and hearing her story was so inspiring, and she was there just to teach us. She corrected some of my basic techniques that I had never known I had been doing wrong, and it made all the difference! It gave me the confidence to push myself to do runs and tricks that I had never tried before. Having someone to push me in my spinning was exactly what I needed to help inspire me, and I have been addicted ever since. I can?? wait to take a clinic next year and have us snowboarders come out and represent! - Leah Hoerger Kendra Starr started her professional snowboard career in Rossland, BC with a part in the all female film, "No Man's Land" by Christian Begin. She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, BC where there is no snow. So while she was studying, she would spend the summer months in South America and snowboard around Chile and Argentina winning many contests and hooking up with various magazines and film crews. She continued her snowboard career in Whistler, BC where she rode for Option snowboards, developed her pro-model boards and designed her signature outerwear. She focused on photo and film content, working in the back country of Whistler and other spots around North America. She was a pro-coach at Camp of Champions summer camp and every winter for the Roxy women's camps in Whistler. She did compete quite a bit but her heart was always in the mountains, and she preferred free riding and powder to competition. She now has two daughters and has relocated from Squamish, BC back to her roots in Nelson. She practices Traditional Chinese medicine in Rossland and Nelson.
