Mountains and Water. What luxury.
With the summer solstice just passing by, we are on our way to winter again. Or some people think of it that way. Early bird passes are on sale for Whitewater's coming season, various wintertime jobs are being advertised, etc. But let's be realistic; it'll still five or so months before many of us put skis on again. So why not take advantage of our playground here in the BC Interior; in particular, the water. It's like snow, only melted.
Resigning oneself to the fact that the snow is a ways away, is a healthy first step. Next, decide on your desired water craft (I am a fan of non-mechanized), stop doing less important things, and get out there.
However you want to roll, it's OK. Kayak, Paddleboard, whatever. It's up to you. The important things is to get out and enjoy the water. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to get out on the water, at least find a nice spot and look at it (like from a dogwalk bench or the Duncan Lake shore):
Sure, Whitewater and our neighbouring mountains are a big part of our area's appeal. But don't forget the water. And don't take it for granted. Mountains and water are equally awesome and we are lucky to have them both.
