"It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine"

Tomorrow marks the end of the 13th cycle of the ancient Mayan calendar and with this comes "The end of the world" if you listen to rumors. If this is true (which I highly doubt) then what a way to end it:

Monday Dec 17th - 23cm

Tuesday Dec 18th - 45

Wednesday Dec 19th - 1cm

Today - 50cm and 42 of that fell over night

That's a grand total of 119cm in 4 days, or 1.2 meters. Not a bad way to go out wouldn't you say?

Today in particular was likely the best day in the 10 years I have been skiing Whitewater and I have heard many others agree with this statement - even the lifers. Faceshots on every turn and waist deep pillows of pow were the order of the day.

I wish I could say that this image was from today but who has time to stop and take photos when there is all that snow to be skied. This shot is from Mount Carlyle Backcountry Lodge during the 2010/11 season, but the comparison is just the same.

Deep, deep, deep!

Hopefully we all wake up on Dec 21st alive and well and since everyone is on holidays next week you should hurry up to the hill and get your share of the goods.Backcountry Skiing Canada(Be sure to check out our Photo and Video Comp that runs until Feb 28th. The first qualifier ends Dec 31st, so get entering!)
