How quickly things can change!

It is always surprising how fast conditions change. Last week we were entrenched in very cold, clear weather with very little snow in the forecast. 2cm of snow buried a couple surface hoar layers which were then likely blown away in the Alpine and high Treeline locations. These layers appeared to persist below these elevations. This wind event created very hard pressed conditions with highly variable distribution of dense wind slab. Our latest storm dumped 50cm of snow in a 48 hour period providing some outstanding skiing. Alas, now the wind is back. We are currently experiencing another significant wind event that is creating new wind slab and blowing much of the latest low density snow away. More snow is in the forecast so we will have to see what awaits us now! Stay safe and keep updating yourselves on all the information you can as the conditions keep rapidly changing.
