Imagine if there had been little or no snow over the holidays? Being cooped up in the house on a normal winter day presents a challenge. When there are hordes or come-from-aways to entertain, poor snow can mean a disaster (or close). Alas, for we merry band of Whitewater fans, the holiday conditions delivered. Everything from classic Whitewater storm sking and pow days, to burst-through-the-clouds-into-the-sun inversions (with freezing levels still low!).
And a funny thing happened; rather than racing off and ditching my relatives/ski companions, I savoured the role of ski guide. "What do people feel like next?" "How is everybody doing?" "Up for something a little steeper?" Seeing the masive smiles on my "guests" faces made me happy and proud to show them around our little resort. The snow and sunshine gave me the power to entertain myself and others. As we all clean up the holiday mess and reclaim our lives with the coming of a new year, it's heartening to see the snow continues to cooperate--delivering fun and more good reasons to leave the house.
