Hey, look up every once in a while, will ya?
As skiers and boarders, we are most often looking down. Avoiding obstacles, reading moguls and picking our line.
At Whitewater, we're graced with beautiful vistas all around--but you have to look up, and maybe even pause, to see them. Lesser resorts are more boxed-in or aren't in the middle of other mountains. Here, there's a reason to look up and around. To see where you are and appreciate some amazing view.
I was skiing by myself the other day and decided to take some snaps from different points and perspectives on the hill (yes, I was the goof with the cameraphone).
Before reading the captions below the photos, see if you can orient yourself and figure out where the photos were taken. It's harder than you might think.

How'd you do? Was it all obvious to you or were you stumped? Were you able to identify the location of the photo up top? Were you able to identify the compass point? (That's a weak point for me.)
My intention, with this little illustration, is to help us all realize that looking up and around while at Whitewater is a good idea. It opens up the landscape, it's inspiring and, heck, it may even help you figure out where you are located on a map. Always good to know if you want to avoid getting lost.
