Avalanche Conditions Report #7: It’s Deep!
Since the last episode on January 9th, we have had 161 cm of low-density snowfall. This huge amount of snow has created a soft storm slab and dry loose avalanche problem in the area. Our snowpack currently matches the record year of 1998/99 season for snowfall - it's deep out there!
A deep snow pack means new hazards, such as tree wells. We encourage people to continue to use safe travel habits around the resort and to always ski with a buddy. To learn more about these hazards, head to our Safety & Risk Awareness web pages for more information.
Avalanche Canada is calling the hazard Considerable, and with more snow in the forecast all the way through until Wednesday of next week, we expect the hazard to remain elevated as a touchy storm slab develops.
