Avalanche Conditions Report 5: What a windy week of snow means.
After 50+cms of blower storm snow skiing the conditions have changed with two days of moderate to strong South Easterly winds. Exposed features in the alpine and treeline have developed a new storm slab. On Thursday a skier triggered a 1.5 slab avalanche in Ymir Bowl outside the ski area boundary with up to 30cm crowns on a steep convex feature at 1975m on a NW aspect.
The winds were very strong overnight and may have blown most of the snow out of the alpine and treeline features may have a more reactive slab. Check out this weeks avalanche conditions report with Whitewater Ski Resort Avalanche Forecaster Wren McElroy and find out more details on the latest conditions.
