Avalanche Conditions Report #2 - Opening Day

We are back with Dave and Backcountry Skiing Canada to deliver you our 2nd Avalanche Condition Report of the Season.

Here are some key highlights to be aware of:

  • Rain event last week created a 10cm thick melt-freeze crust, this has lowered our avalanche hazard and created a very solid base.
  • 20-30 cm's of snow is forecasted this weekend, this melt-freeze crust will be our main layer of concern as it will act as a bed surface for avalanches to slide on.
  • Opening day is tomorrow - Silver King and the Hummer Handle Tow will be open. Limited terrain will be open, ski and ride with care, and obey all signage.
  • Summit and Glory terrain will remain closed, we will be working to prepare the terrain for opening so please avoid these areas.

As always play safe out there!
